ASUS G50Vt-X5 Gaming Laptop (La Crosse Metro) $750  ...more
I'm selling my gaming laptop - ASUS G50Vt-X5. It's last year's model of the current ASUS gaming machine (I think it may be a Best Buy exclusive).

ODD: 8x DVD R/RW DL Lightscribe

PORTS: 4x USB, eSATA, HDMI, VGA, Firewire, Ethernet, Card Reader, Audio
EXPANSION: Express 54 Slot

I bought the laptop a little over a year ago, and I've gamed with it since then. I've played everything from WoW to STO to Crysis to Fallout 3 to Oblivion to The Sims 3 on it, with no issues.

For comparison, the current year model is $1,000 at Best Buy. This one, however, has FLAMES on the top, and strobing LEDs, controllable by a Widget. Built in speakers, web cam, microphone, etc.

This is the first gaming laptop I've had, and it didn't disappoint. It runs warm, but not over hot, and is quieter than I expected it to be. The GPU is a true card, not integrated video, and scores 59% on Notebookcheck.com, in the high end graphics card category. The Windows Experience Index score is 5.0 overall. GPU and RAM scores are higher.

Caveats: This is a big laptop. ASUS notes that it is not, technically, a laptop - it's a notebook - due to the size. It has a 15.6" screen, a full sized keyboard, and a numpad. I used it on my lap, sitting on the couch, but it does require a larger notebook bag, and is noticeably larger than something like a Dell Studio 15. Because it's a gaming machine.

There is a small crack on underside casing, but it was checked by ASUS support, and had no impact on the computer or the components. While checking it, they cleaned out the internals, and redid the heat paste on the GPU about 2 months ago.
