BEWARE OF SHOPPING AT HANCOCK FABRICS. RECENTLY I SHOPPED AT THE LYNNWOOD STORE AND PURCHASED A BROTHER SEWING MACHINE, AND WHEN I GOT HOME AND OPENED IT, I REALIZED IT HAD ALREADY BEEN RETURNED, AND REPACKAGED WITH MISSING PARTS. WHILE THERE RETURNING IT, I OVERHEARD EMPLOYEES SPEAKING ABOUT SOME EMPLOYEES WHO HAD BEEN LAID OFF. NOT A SIGN OF GOOD THINGS.
AT ONE OF MY SEWING BEE MEETINGS, I BROUGHT THIS UP, AND WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THE LADIES THAT SHE WAS AT THE STORE IN KIRKLAND AND SAW SOME STUFF THAT HAD STICKERS ON IT FROM SEARS THAT WERE COVERED UP WITH HANCOCK FABRICS STICKERS/TAGS. AGAIN, NOT A SIGN OF GOOD THINGS.
THEIR FABRIC SELECTION HAS GONE DOWNHILL IN THE PAST FEW YEARS, AND THEY SEEM TO HAVE MORE AND MORE HOME DECOR ITEMS AND CLOTHING ITEMS. KIND OF STRANGE FOR A FABRIC STORE. I have never been to the Tacoma Store, and I used to be a regular at the Greenwood Store, until it closed. It was sad to see it go. Now, I generally go to Lynnwood. Once in a great while I will go over to Kirkland. I have to agree that the stores have gone downhill in the past few years. Messier, more cluttered, higher turnover rate of employees, and very pushy at the registers if you can get them to wait on you. Generally have to wait forever to get waited on at the cutting table, and the lines are slow as can be. The older lady with the blonde hair and glasses just wants to gab and gab and gab. I have things to do, and my list doesn't include spending my day gabbing to you all day.
I've been in the store when the manager has been blatantly rude and disrespectful to the workers, yelling at them and saying things that are inappropriate for the work floor in front of or within ear shot. I was not impressed. I think that in general, the stores have gone downhill.
I have to also agree that there is more furniture, and gift/clothing type items that make little sense. If I am going to a fabric store, my premise is to make the items, not buy them pre-made. Very wierd. I also noticed that there always seem to be carts of stock in the aisle every time I go in there. My daughter said the same thing. Oh, and don't let me get started on that. She said that when she was in there with my grandkids, the gabby old blonde was mean and rude to the kids who were touching things in the kids crafting area. Well hello, it is a kids crafting area.
I'm about to just start shopping at JoAnn Fabrics and dabble occassionally at Pacific (due to the drive). However, I did hear thru the grapevine that Hancock Fabrics is just waiting for the lease to be up at the Lynnwood location for them to close that store next. Would not be surprised. I heard that from a very reliable source. Not impressed with Hobby Lobby's fabric selection. Other items yes, fabric no.

Amish "Courting Candle" holder (Kirkland) $5 ...more
I received this candle holder as a gift from family who traveled in Amish country in the 90's, and it is a genuine Amish product. It is described as a courting candle. The idea is that when a male suitor would come to visit an Amish girl, the father would rotate the candle base to the level he wanted to set the candle, indicating how long the young man would be permitted to visit and therefore how much the father approved of the young man.
The spiral metal frame houses a wood base which rotates up and down through the spiral depending on the height of the candle. It's been used a bit but is in good shape overall. One side of the wood has some darkening. The frame itself is essentially immaculate except for some wax which can be picked off easily enough.

Comes with a box full of supplies---trim strips, wallpaper, tiny hardware, plus a lot of furniture and other accessories, (including a cool magnetic chess game!) many still new in box. Overall dimensions are approximately 42" long x 15" wide x 27" high. Accessories shown are just a small portion of the lot. Perfect for any child!

Peter Pan acrylic painting (kirkland) $15 ...more
A painting I just recently did because had plans of doing my sons room in Peter Pan..but changed our mind..so now I have no use for this,and im not going to throw it away.
Took several hours,isnt the greatest,but still would be cool for a Peter Pan collector,or for a kids room.
Its painted on a 18x..i believe 24?or 32 canvas.Pretty good/biggish size.On a thick framed canvas,not the cheap really thin cardboard canvases.
As you can see in the second picture,there are a few places ON THE SIDE that I didnt paint,so its white.
Other then that,its a pretty decent painting,like i said..just dont have any use for it,wanted to see if anyone wanted to buy it.
$15 pretty firm..but if i dont get any offers,i may go lower.
the canvas alone was $15..and all the paint i used,and time.
