What is Permanent Cosmetics? Permanent Cosmetics is simply cosmetic tattooing. The specialized techniques are often referred to as 'micropigmentation'　or 'dermagraphics'.　Bottom line is the implantation of colored pigment into the upper layer of the dermis....tattooing.

What type of Procedures are Done? Permanent cosmetics ....can enhance many facial features.　Most common are eyeliner, either upper, lower or both, eyebrows, lip liner, and full lips.

How Are Procedures done? There are many methods of PC tattooing.　 Machines such as those used in body art can be used or some, like me, use a hand tool method.　　 In skilled hands the machine can be effective...in unskilled hands it can be very dangerous.　 It is my belief that the hand tool method allows for more control in the delicate tissue of the facial area.

Who shouldn't get permanent makeup? Unfortunately there will be individuals who are not eligible....those who have had any cornea or eye work in the last year should NOT attempt eyeliner.　　This is because some pressure may be applied in stretching the eyelid and that can be detrimental to the cornea. People who tend to easily hyper-pigment,Keloid or those who have been off Accutane for less than one year. For people with tendencies to cold sores/herpes, an anti-viral prescription is needed prior to getting permanent lip color applied. A person who spends a lot of time in the sun or in tanning beds or booths without protection is NOT a good candidate for permanent makeup since the UVA rays will change the pigment tones, sometimes even turning browns to blues. A person who is undergoing a major life trauma should NOT get permanent makeup. It is generally thought of as unwise to alter one's physical appearance while undergoing major stress in life. It's probably best to wait until the issues causing the trauma are resolved.

Those who have severe health issues should seek Physician's approval.　

How Long Does Each Procedure Take? Each initial procedure takes approximately one hour.　 I personally will take as much time as I need to　create the desired results.　　 Follow up sessions are also blocked for an hour. Please always make sure you are on time. Depending on appointments you may have to be rescheduled if you are late.

What Are The After Effects? With eyeliner there may be slight swelling to the eye area--much like after a good cry!　　 For both brows and liner the area may be tender and feel dry.　　 It is important that you follow the aftercare regiment given to you.　　　 The pigment may appear darker the first few days but as the body heals the colors will soften to the desired effect.　　 It may take up to a month to see the final result of the initial application.　　 Any and all follow-up procedures should be done at that time and NOT before. The color can disappear below the skin and then reappear.

Is It Painful? Some people find the process feels much like plucking or waxing the eyebrows.　 Others may experience more discomfort.　 This varies according to procedures and individual tolerances.　　

Is It Really Permanent? The procedure for applying permanent cosmetics introduces pigment under the first layer of skin and can not be washed off so it is classified as permanent.　 However fading can and often does occur thus requiring periodic touch ups.　 It is most important that you follow the recommended aftercare regime during the healing period and continue to be diligent regarding skin care and UV exposure.　　 Some skin care products such as Retin-A may affect the appearance of permanent cosmetics.　　　 Although the procedure is considered permanent, there is some flexibility in changing the
color intensity or shape. I maintain a conservative approach and a policy of "err on the side of caution." Simply put: you can always add more pigment but it's much harder to go in the other direction. Remember that most color will appear darker immediately following the procedure but will soften and lighten during the healing process.
How many applications are needed? Generally, two applications are needed in order to achieve your desired look. However, many clients are fully satisfied with just one application. If a second application is needed, it is typically scheduled approximately 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure.
Can I still have an MRI? This urban myth has been tried on the popular television show "Myth Busters." Numerous studies have also shown that even having very large areas of the body covered with tattoos poses little or no potential for irritation. Most of the pigments used are plant and vegetable based. However, even if the pigments that do contain trace amounts of metal (common tattoo pigment); the amount implanted into the skin is less than a fraction of a percentage of the amount of metal in a common tooth filling. Test studies have confirmed that the "iron" particles in pigment are too microscopic to react as true metal pieces but rather are more accurately compared with "metals" which already exist
microscopically in the body.
Is infection possible? Conjunctivitis (pink eye), although rare, would be the most likely infection possible. However, if you follow your after care instructions carefully, there should be no infections. There is always the possibility of an infection even with a small scratch; however, most do
not experience noteworthy problems following these procedures. Remember that you must keep the area clean and follow your after care instructions carefully.
What is the healing period like? Most clients are able to return to work or their other daily activities immediately following their procedure without any embarrassment or discomfort. Superior-strength topical anesthetics help prevent unsightly swelling and bleeding. For approximately 5-7 days
following the procedure, you will need to apply a thin film of ointment to the procedure site. During this healing period, you will notice the color soften into your skin.

What can I do to protect my permanent makeup? During exposure to sun, use a good sunscreen. I recommend an SPF of 30+ applied on the
tattooed area. It also can't hurt to apply a small amount of Vaseline to the treated area to create a barrier when going for a facial, swimming etc.

Basic Crunch
To do a basic crunch, lie on the AbWorks and place your feet on the rollers or on the floor. Hold onto the handles, and using your abdominal muscles, raise your entire upper torso from your shoulders to your back from the floor. Squeeze your abdominal muscles and hold for two seconds and return.

Oblique Curls
You can work your obliques with two positions. The first position is to place one of your hands on the other forearm and turn your head in that direction. Grasp the handle with the free hand and keep your feet in the rollers. Bring your torso off the floor and contract your abdominal muscles and hold for two seconds. Lower slowly. Work the other side by switching your head and hand to the other side.
The second position for working obliques is to hold the handles with both hands, but allow both of your legs to fall to one side, keeping your back flat on the pad. Perform the crunch from this position.

Reverse Curl
To perform a reverse curl, you can either have both feet in the rollers, or one foot in the rollers and one on the frame or on the floor. Grasping the handles, pull your knees into your chest, bringing the roller pads in also. Hold for two seconds and slowly return to the floor. With both your feet in the rollers, you can also lift your upper torso and twist toward your knee, performing an oblique curl while bringing your knees into your chest. Another option is to keep one foot planted on the ground and the other in the rollers.

Changing the Resistance
To change the resistance, you can change the settings on the square tube at the end of the unit from low to high. The hole closest to the unit is the lowest. The roller pad assembly allows you to change the resistance in three levels. The bottom hole is the easiest and the top hole is the hardest. You can also move your head closer to the end of the pad to increase resistance or place your hands lower on the handles. Removing the height block that is located under the upper support will allow you to increase your range of motion.
