56 Lone Star Cruisemaster (Corvallis) $1500  ...more
OK, here's the deal. The boat's located in Corvallis, ORegon. I
bought it about 10 years ago with grand intentions of restoring it.
I don't have an indoor location to work on it, nor a practical way
to build a rain shelter over it, so I ended up not going anywhere on
it. Now for the details:

Hull:
The Cruisemaster has been sitting outside, unused since
about '75. The exposed wood, rubber and other soft parts are
completely gone. The interior wood is sound but not pretty. The
wall panels inside need replacing but all the foam flotation is
still there. About half of the windows are cracked, but the cranks
are all there even though some are off and a few are rusted frozen.
about half of the screens are there, could be used as a pattern to
make new ones. The hull appears to perfectly sound. No holes that I
can see, but I haven't put it in the water to see how tight the
seams are. The steering system is shot due to UV deterioration of
the cable jackets and the pulleys (but the parts are all there if
you would want to restore the cable system. The transom wood is
toast and I removed 90% by ripping it out by hand. So at a minimum
it needs the transom disassembled and new wood put in. Most of the
bolts holding the wood in are badly rusted and will probably need
drilling/cutting for removal replacement. An interesting feature of
this boat is a fiberglass noise reducing cowl that fits on top of
the transom with a piano type hinge that allows it to tilt forward
to access the motor. It is in reasonably good shape with just one
star crack in it. There is compartment across the back of the
cockpit on which there was a hinged seat. The framework is solid,
but of course the seat's gone. I have the framework for a folding
pilot's seat that mounts on the port side by the steering wheel.
All metal parts are sound, wood and fabric gone.

Motor:
It came with a '57 Johnson 30hp, long shaft, electric start motor.
It can be cranked by hand so it isn't frozen up. Inside the motor
hood it looks surprisingly clean. Cleaner than some modern
engines. Battery cables are toast due to rotted insulation. I
would assume it needs new wiring, seals, water pump, gaskets,
probably magnetos, but could be made to run. I have three, pressure
(two-line) tanks ranging from decent to cruddy condition. These go
for about $50-60 on Ebay if they're in any kind of condition at all.

Trailer:
Original tandem Lone Star trailer with hinge at the tongue and 2" x
4" (on edge) bunks. It is covered with surface rust, but I don't
see any deep structural corrosion. The bearings were completely
redone by Les Schwab at a cost of almost $400. Shoulda done it
myself, but I could see when I took them apart, there was a good
chance I could have buggered the job without having the right
tools. Apparently removing the rusty old bearings was no small
job. After pricing new tires, I decided to buy new trailer wheels
with tires at BiMart. Got 'em on sale for $37 ea. (12", 4 bolt white spoke wheels.
I also had to buy
one new tire earlier to get my acquisition home from Portland, so
there are actually 5 new tires, 4 original rusty rims and all four
original (but also rusty) hubcaps. I recently mounted new trailer lights on the transom extension.
If I had put them on the trailer no one would see them cause the boat extends several feet over
the end of the trailer. This trailer is an antique but it's quite roadworthy.

Miscellaneous parts:
I was starting on the process of collecting parts for the
restoration, so this is what I have. I was planning on selling
these parts separately since they are either new or in very good
used condition.
2 Pedestal seats with posts (used)
"Destroyer" type steering wheel
Teleflex cable steering system (new) will only work for a starboard
station so would require moving the wheel across to starboard side
(ditto for the existing motor contols.)

Here's my idea for pricing:
Cruiseliner with original motor, tanks, and all relevant original
parts: $1,500 (make me a reasonable offer and let's see what happens)
Restore parts (seats, wheel and steering): $200 We can talk about a complete package deal.

2008 14'4" 25hp Handcrafted Boat (OBO Corvallis ) $3600  ...more
This beautiful wood Boat was built by Rick Meyer owner of MeyerCraft Boats in Veneta Oregon.

The basic hull of this boat is a Glen-L design Rick designed the cockpit which differs significantly from the their design. This boat was built before MeyerCraft became a business and is registered as a "home-built." It is a 14' V-hull with a 5' 9" beam and generous dead rise forward to provide a softer ride. Rick installed a complete electrical system including interior lighting. The biggest difference from the Glen-L cockpit plan is the open cockpit in Rick's design. This makes the boat seem much larger. There is storage under the seats and under the bench in the bow. With the 25hp remote steer motor, the boat provides good performance and excellent fuel economy.Bimini top included

The boat is trimmed in Beautiful Teak and is easy to care for. Just wipe clean and oil.

The motor is a 2001 Yamaha 4 stroke and the boat also comes with a King saltwater trailer. Has brand new tags for two years.
