MARX Play Set tin litho Sears Allstate Auto Service Center 1950s (Minnetonka ... ...more
Hard-to-find Marx tin litho ALLSTATE 24 Hour Auto Service Center - Gas Station - no. 5992 play set sold by Sears in late 1950s. Mostly complete (and with box) in good, but played with condition.
Includes the pumps, racks and 2 (metal-wheeled) plastic cars, etc. Has two 40mm (~1-3/4") cream-color attendants, a floor sweeper and a mechanic w/mallet (not pictured). Comparing to the box art and simple instruction sheet the set is missing a plastic one-tire display, plastic car jack and the gas pump canopy.
The tin tow truck is missing wheels and boom. The yellow plastic car is missing its windshield. Some building section tabs are missing and no tabs remain on the large sign, so you need to affix the sign with tape/adhesive. The double garage door center column is bent/broken off but affixes in place.
Pictures show it very loosely assembled but shows nicely when properly assembled. No rust; a few scratches and very small dents; wear on some decals. Box is a little rough with some flap tears and stains from tape (has the shipping label on back).
Sold as is. Local cash sale. Sorry, no shipping or trades.
